The boring life of Jerod Poore, Crazymeds' Chief Citizen Medical Expert.

I'm so fucking chill...

What's the difference between yesterday (top) and today?

Yesterday I had hot water.

I'm close to my limit.  Really.  Fucking.  Close.  Crazy Meds isn't making enough money to support itself and now this.

I'm pretty sure the water heater itself is working, and something is preventing the water in it from getting anywhere.  There's a leak somewhere, or the pressure tank is about to die, or something.  My guess is a leak, because the pressure tank kicks on once or twice an hour for no good reason.  And a leak would be the most expensive thing to fix.

I'm not even able to care all that much at the moment.  Right now I want to sell this dump to whatever "we buy houses for cash" douchebags will give me the most cash, sell Crazy Meds, clean out my IRA, buy a shack somewhere, and just drop off the grid.

I'm so sorry! What really shitty timing along with the freezing cold. Right now our panel is randomly going black and the furnace just keeps running and running getting hotter and hotter and eventually the panel kicks back in and it goes back to normal. Owning a house is great but if anything breaks, finacial necessity requires it just gunna stay broke!

I managed to kill the fuel-oil boiler a couple years back. And the wood-burning one never worked. They're both over 30 years old and no one around here knows how to fix them.

So it's been space heaters and wearing lots of clothing. The boiler was so inefficient that it costs a hell of a lot less to use space heaters.

I spent a couple hours doing plumbing diagnostics. I need a pro - and the guy who has worked on this place for over 20 years is gone as well - but I'm pretty sure I know where the problem is. The symptoms say "leak" but it could still be one hell of a clog. If it is a leak the right way to fix it would involve tearing up the downstairs shower and at least one wall.

As I can't find a legitimate contractor around here, I can probably find some guy who would be willing to run a pipe on the surface from the pump to the water heater. The tricky part is finding the connection to the upstairs bathroom, as the bathtub isn't getting any water either.

A UNABOMBer shack is looking nicer every day.

I occasionally come here to try to catch up. The past couple years especially my health has been breaking down in fantastic ways though- so I can barely keep up with myself. I keep links to here and to the actual site because I've always legitimitely thought it was a good resource and continued to direct people to it, regardless of whatever mayhem may have occurred.

That said: I apologize if this is blatantly obvious and my question is dripping with ignorance but... what are some of the specific issues that are causing [or have been causing] CMs to lose money?

I imagine they are not easily fixed or you'd just be doing it and not talking about it, since this is your "baby".

I ask because it would be a shame for it to completely disappear or turn into HealthCentral [is that just my opinion?]. Not that, likely, there is much that I personally could do to assist.

But is it common knowledge that CM is on shaky ground?

Josie,

I've been complaining about money for some time now.

The problem is lack of ad revenue. At first it was due to traffic plummeting thanks to whatever caused Crazymeds to do so poorly in the search results. Now that's not much of a problem. Instead no one is clicking on ads, because the ads are crap, because the click-through-rate was so bad thanks to ad blocking software.

Other ad services have too many problems, like being incredibly annoying or always being rich media. If I don't have a text-only option, I can't put them on drug pages or the forum because there's no way to control ads that might trigger seizures or migraines.

Yeah, I hadn't been doing any of the bloggy stuff for a long time because I had been stuck in my own personal bullshitland- I usually come here now and then off of that but hadn't for months and months and months.

I looked up traffic and saw that, wondered what had happened.

But what you say about ad revenue makes sense.

I might suggest taking another look at your StraightJacket stuff- as an art student to some degree [take that for reference as you will] I will offer that a lot of it would likely sell better with small alterations visually.

I know this was an old post- but I saw on the Official Crazymeds Blog that you are plugging the StraighJacket stuff quite a bit- in my opinion it's great but could use some tweaking in terms of the images themselves and maybe it would take off more? Just an idea.

But that might also involve a larger time/effort/resource investment than you have at your disposal or care to give as well.

Anyway. Hope something turns around.

I have absolutely no artistic talent, so I can use all the help I can get. If it's going to get complicated we should do it in e-mail.
